Vanderbilt beat Virginia to take The National Title

 CWS（College World Series）決勝戦が6月23～25日、TD Ameritrade Park（Omaha, NE）で開催され、Vanderbilt CommodoresがVirginia Cavliersを2勝１敗で降して優勝した。Vanderbiltは全米チャンピオン初優勝である。

The Vanderbilt Commodores baseball team represents Vanderbilt University in NCAA Division I college baseball. 

College World SeriesはNCAAサマースポーツの代表的イベントで、毎年６月に開催される。予選トーナメント（NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament）は1部リーグ所属280校から64校が選抜され、全米８カ所で５月30日からスタートした。1回戦（Regionalsと呼ぶ）で32校、2回戦（Super Regionals）で16校が勝ち残り、最後に地区代表決定戦を行って８校を選抜する。

勝ち残った8校（Elite 8）は舞台をネブラスカ州オマハに移し、チャンピオンシリーズのCollege World Series（CWS）に出場する。CWSはBest of Three（3戦先勝制）で行われ、６月14日に開幕した。
