George Strait Wins Entertainer of the Year as Full Winner List Is Revealed

“I always said I had the best fans in the world and I heard this was a fan-voted thing, so I rest my case," said the 61-year-old singer.

2014 American Country Music Awards 授賞式が4月６日、MGM Grand Garden Arena（Las Vegas, NV）で開催された。Entertainer of the YearはGeorge Straitが受賞した。Straitの受賞は当然だろう。ノミニーはTaylor SwiftやMiranda Lambert、Luke Bryan、Blake Shelton達だったが、今回のStraitは彼らと格が違う。Wranglerの13 MGS George Strait Cowboy Cut Original Fit とJustinのウエスタンブーツ売上は確実に伸びるだろう。

George Straitの歌手生活最後のツアー「Cowboy Rides Away Tour」は終着駅が迫ってきた。Straitはすでに１月にツアー完了後引退すると表明している。２年越しのツアーは7月7日にダラスで完了するが、１月に発表された最終公演出演者リストは、まるでアメリカ・カントリー界のオールスター戦で、メジャーどころが総出演する。ダラス公演は７月４日にやってもらいたいくらいである。1981年にデビューしてから32年間。長い芸能活動だった。61歳を過ぎて、殿堂入りも果たした。フィラントロピー活動で社会にも貢献してきた。Straitは真の意味のTexanである。

Miranda LambertはFemale Vocalist、Single Record、Vocal Eventの３部門で受賞した。2011年にブレイクしてから、向かうところ敵なしで勢いに衰えはみえない。
