Florida State, Auburn to play for 

BCS National Championship

Florida State and Auburn are ranked first and second, respectively, in the final Bowl Championship Series standings and will face each other for the national championship on Jan. 6 in Pasadena, Calif.

BCS National Championship（全米王座決定戦）対戦校が12月８日（日曜日）夜発表された。#$1 Florida State と#2 Auburn が2014年１月6日、Rose Bowl Stadium（Pasadena, CA）で対決する。AuburnはAlabama（11月30日）を降し、SEC Championshipで#5 Missouriを破ってBCS進出した。#1FSUはAlabamaの敗退でランキング首位に進み、ACC Championshipで#20 Dukeに圧勝してレギュラーシーズン全勝で終わった。

Florida State will again face an SEC opponent for the title this season, and that opponent will be trying to earn the SEC the BCS National Championship for the eighth consecutive season.

タイトルマッチは2003年から８年連続SEC（Southeastern Conference）が優勝している。今年はOSU出場が濃厚だったから、久方ぶりにSEC以外の優勝校誕生と思われていたが、Auburnが優勝すれば９年連続SECになる。FSUは1999年に優勝しており、勝てば15年ぶりの全米チャンピオンである。

BCS National ChampionshipはBCSランキングシステム（コンピュター解析）による対戦校決定で、シングルゲームチャンピオンシップフォーマットを採用してきた。この方式は2013年で終了し、来年からはプレーオフによる新方式に移行する。今回のBCSはコンピューターにシステムによる最後の対戦校選出である。
